Carole Ann Cumiford, 60, died suddenly in her sleep at her home July 11, 2006.

She was born in The Dalles June 17, 1946 to Carlton and Alice Mell. She graduated from The Dalles High School in 1964.

After graduating from business college, she worked for several agencies of the federal government. The last 23 years she worked as a computer specialist for the U.S. Forest Service. She worked in several forests in the Northwest, and spent time in Corvallis, Grants Pass and Omak, Wash., retiring in 2001 with 34 years' service.

She enjoyed camping, fishing, playing golf, visiting friends and family and traveling with her husband in their RV. The couple traveled from Alaska to Mexico and from the Northwest to the East Coast.

She is survived by Wayne, her husband of 36 years; son Scott of Wilsonville, grandchildren Spencer, Natalie and Allyson; her mother, Alice Mell of The Dalles; and her sister, Arnita Stout of Casa Grande, Ariz.

In accordance with her wishes, no service is planned.
