Lawrence "Larry" Lowther

Willard Lawrence "Larry" Lowther passed away on October 23, 2011 after a long battle with cancer. He was born and raised in The Dalles, Oregon and spent most of his life in the Portland area. A veteran of the US Air Force, Larry then spent several years as an officer with the Oregon State Police. His favorite hobby included earning his pilot's license flying small planes. Larry graduated from culinary school in 1985 and continued to pursue his passion in the culinary arts and management. Later on, he earned his black belt in Taekwondo and opened his own martial arts studio in Reno, Nevada where he taught for several years. A lifelong animal lover, Larry enjoyed volunteering for the Multnomah County Animal Shelter after he retired. Larry is survived by his wife of 28 years, Vicki; his daughter Erin, an elementary school teacher in Hillsboro, Oregon; and his son Ryan, a draftsman for a structural engineering firm in Portland, Oregon. He was buried in Redmond, Oregon next to his beloved grandfather. Larry was 66 years old.
