In Memoriam Nancy
J Crabb Bruch Nancy Jeane Bruch, 69, of La Grande, died Sept. 22 at home. A funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Sept. 30 at the Faith Center in Island City. Committal and interment will follow at the Island City Cemetery. Nancy was born Oct. 15, 1947, in The Dalles, to Earl Thomas and Thelma Agneta (Miller) Crabb. The family later moved to Portland, and Nancy graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1964. In 1968, Nancy graduated from the University of Oregon with a bachelor's degree in English. She later attended Portland State University and in 2016 earned a bachelor's degree in history from Eastern Oregon University. Nancy taught high school English in John Day for many years. On June 12, 1971, Nancy married Gary Bruch in Portland. They moved to La Grande in 1991, where Nancy was a member of Faith Center and taught water aerobics at the Veterans' Memorial Pool. She participated in Meals on Wheels and TOPS and was in a bowling league and the Blue Mountain Good Sam Club. Nancy was a member and past president of the VFW Auxiliary. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Kerry Lyn and George Bullard of La Grande; daughter Tammy Jeane Beeson of Wichita, Kansas; brother, Richard Earl Crabb of Portland, and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary, on May 28, 2017. Memorial contributions may be made to the Oregon Cancer Society. -- Obituary from
